Robinson Nature Center

Opened in September 2011 the James H. and Anne E. Robinson Nature Center welcomes visitors of all ages who will enjoy interactive exhibits on local habitats, wildlife, and the Chesapeake Bay, a children’s discovery room, and a digital    planetarium and full-dome movie theater. Outside, visitors can enjoy a mile of nature trails with views of the Middle Patuxent River and the historic ruins of the Simpsonville Mill. Additionally, the Nature Place outdoor discovery zone provides children with a play area full of natural materials, instruments and an underground slide in which to explore the great outdoors. The 23,000-square-foot Center earned the LEED Platinum designation in 2012 for its sustainable design including geothermal heating/cooling, green roofing, rain gardens and even recycled wood from the Robinsons’ own barn.
