Welcome back to the weekend, Howard County! We have a lot going on this weekend, from Paint It! Ellicott City to A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Patapsco Female Institute. There's plenty to do for people of all ages this weekend, so grab your troupe and head out for adventure!
Chrysalis Kids: Grandsons Jr.
The grandsons, Jr., is the kids band version of DC-area roots rock superstars, The Grandsons. Kids and their parents will dig the upbeat mix of rock, swing, New Orleans R&B, country, and Latin music we call Americana. Over the past 25 years performing as The Grandsons, the band has noticed that many of their songs resonate with the younger crowd. As the grandsons, Jr., they combine new material learned especially for the younger set, with Grandsons tunes that have always been popular with the kids. Gates open at 9 a.m. for playtime in the Park and the performance starts at 10 a.m.
Wild for Water Day
Come join us for our biggest event of the summer! Don’t stay dry; come out to be refreshed with tons of water-based activities. Cool off in our mist tent and enjoy water play. Create homemade mini-boats and race them down the river. Meet live, aquatic creatures in the traveling “Fish Mobile”. Participate in a river treasure hunt, and check out super cool water experiments. Enjoy water-based games for the whole family, and don’t miss your opportunity to make a splash! Food trucks will be on-site with lunch and snack options.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream
The course of true love never did run smooth.
On the eve of a royal wedding, a quartet of lovers and a motley group of amateur actors visit a fairy-filled forest. When the worlds of mortals and fairies cross paths, mischief and mayhem follow – along with maybe the funniest scene Shakespeare ever wrote. Bring a picnic and a bottle of wine and share an enchanting night of romantic comedy under the stars in the PFI Historic Park, Ellicott City, our festival-style summer theatre home.
Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at 6pm. Sundays are Family Fun Days, with kid-friendly activities including face-painting and costume dress-up before the show.
The ticket tent and gates open 90 minutes before the performance for picnics, festival-style-fun for all ages, and preshow events.

You are the spectator. You are the artist. Fidel Carey-Realmo's interactive INFINITE CREATOR installation is a homage to the Great Creator within. Colorful, decorative boxes of all sizes will be located on the gallery floor, open to the public for putting them into various designs and patterns. As a backdrop to this interactive installation, Fidel’s abstract and mixed media paintings will be displayed on the gallery walls.
