EC Ghost Tours
We double dare you to walk the streets and learn more about the past inhabitants of this historic milltown — one of the oldest and most haunted locales in America! The lady in white of Tonge Row, the Civil War soldier who stalks the lower end of Main Street, and the vigilant firefighter of Station 2 invite you to hear their stories during our frightfully fun ghost tours.

Toddler Time - Robinson Nature Center 11/9 @ 9am and 10am
$7 per person ($5 for members)  Ages 1-2.5 years
Toddler time offers some of our youngest visitors a chance to use unstructured play to gain the comfort level and gross/fine motor skills they need to happily explore the world around them. Each month, we curate materials on a different theme for you and your toddler to explore. Take part in simple, self-guided activities that encourage toddlers to move in age-appropriate ways and explore unfamiliar textures, smells, sounds and sights found in the natural world.

Lil’ Stars - Robinson Nature Center 11/10 @ 10am and 11am
$3 per person Ages 3+
Let your little one discover outer space through views of the stars and planets. Stories, crafts, and songs. Give your child a special nighttime experience during the day.

Crab Soup Contest - Ellicott Mills Brewing Company 11/11 12pm-5pm
15th Annual Crab Soup Contest. Any Style. All you need is a serving spoon and an electric warmer filled with your favorite recipe. Cream, Vegetable, Chowder, bring it all!

HoCo Festival's 

Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony - Downtown Columbia and Lakefront.  11/11 9:30am-1pm
The Howard County community is invited to honor those actively serving in the US armed forces and the more than 20,00 veterans who call Howard County home at a Veterans Day parade and ceremony. The parade will begin at 9:30am, starting at Merriweather Drive and continuing along Little Patuxent Parkway headed toward the Downtown Columbia lakefront.  A ceremony will follow at 10:45am at the lakefront. Music by a local high school band. Performances by Columbia Center for Theatrical Arts’ Young Columbians, and Atholton High School Color Guard. Free hot chocolate, coffee, baked goods donated by Clyde’s of Columbia and Whole Foods Market. Additional food may be purchased from nearby food trucks. Family friendly activities and vintage military vehicles.

Historic Oakland Holiday Craft Fair - Historic Oakland Manor 11/10 10am-3pm
Town Center Community Association will hold is annual Holiday Craft Fair at the Historic Oakland Manor. This is a juried event featuring handmade crafts and gifts from 40+ vendors.

An Evening with Chris Smither - The Soundry 11/9 7pm

Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy: The Songs of World War II - Slayton House 11/11 3pm-5pm
Join the Columbia Jazz Band as they play hits from WWII like, In the Mood, White Cliffs of Dover, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, and more! The jazz band will play while photos and vintage newsreel footage are projected above the band. Wine, beer, and snacks will be available for additional costs.

Jason Shafer Clarinet Recital - Horowitz Center 11/11 7:30pm-9:30pm
Guest artist Jason Shafer partners with HCC faculty member Kuei-I Wu for a recital full of a wide variety of colorful music. The centerpiece Brahms sonata is one of the composer’s final works. The performance ends with an exciting collaboration with Jason’s former clarinet teacher, HCC faculty member Kyle Coughlin.

Silent Movie Night - St. Peter’s Episcopal Church 11/9 7pm-930pm
1923 silent movie classic Our Hospitality with Buster Keaton and Natalie Talmadge, accompanied live on the St. Peter’s organ by Michael Britt. Come see the movie the way your great-grandparents would have seen it! Evening begins with a southern fried chicken dinner at 7pm, followed by the movie at 8pm with fresh popcorn.
