The 32nd Annual Savage Fest returns once again to Howard County this weekend! Books in Bloom is also back at Merriweather, and the first ever Summer Party on the Porch at Clarksville Commons. Saturday June 1st is also a license free fishing day, meaning anyone can fish in Maryland's myriad waterways. Get out in the sun this weekend and enjoy some of the many community events taking place!

June 1 - Maryland Student Film Festival @ Howard Community College
In cooperation with Maryland public schools and colleges, the HCC Film Department and Dragon Digital television at HCC, the Annual Maryland Student Film Festival at Howard Community College is an opportunity for local student filmmakers and videographers to submit and showcase their independent films for a juried venue

June 1 - Savage Fest @ Carroll Baldwin Hall & Historic Savage Mill
The 32nd annual Savage Fest promises a day of fun for all ages and a chance to meet friends old and new. The celebration takes place on Baldwin Common with live music, dance performances, pony rides, a petting zoo, giant bubbles, an antique car show, games, crafts, a variety of vendors, food and more.

June 1 - Summer Party on the Porch @ Food Plenty
This first-time-ever, one-of-a-kind, not-to-be-missed event is sure to be a hit.  Food Plenty is proud to welcome Bulleit Bourbon and Manor Hill Brewing to our Porch for a Summer Party with a Purpose. Event benefits the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Maryland.

June 2 - Books in Bloom Festival @ Merriweather Post Pavilion
Books in Bloom is a daylong event featuring multiple stages with continuous programming, including author conversations, book signings, Q&A sessions, panel discussions, and more. Throughout the event space, activations will engage and educate guests of all ages, ranging from children’s workshops and local author exhibitions to readings and art installations.

June 2 - Willard & Wood Magic Cabaret @ Food Plenty
Willard & Wood Magic Cabaret is a comedic afternoon of amazement, featuring rare impossibilities, unscripted moments, and special guest performers!

The Wine Bin presents a free screening of Incredibles 2! The Wine Bin offers beer and wine tastings before the movie.

June 1 - Nation Road Yard Sale @ Roger Carter Community Center
The Historic National Yard & Sidewalk Sale is the area's longest continuous sale. From downtown Baltimore to St. Louis, this sale runs for 284 miles. Join Roger Carter and other community members as we participate in a fun day of selling and buying.

June 1 - Chrysalis Cabaret : Lavenia Nesmith @ Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods
Join Columbia's own Lavenia Nesmith for a great night of jazz. Ms. Nesmith has performed regionally and nationally at some of the most prestigious venues and festivals. She is the creator of Jazz at the Millthe popular concert series. This performance is part of the Chrysalis Cabaret Series in partnership with Columbia Orchestra / Columbia Jazz Band.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources invites anglers to experience our state’s myriad waterways during license-free fishing days on June 1

June 1 - Music at the Museum @ Howard County Living Farm Heritage Museum 
The Howard County Living Farm Heritage Museum is hosting a community music concert on the Museum grounds Saturday, June 1st from 6 PM to 9 PM. Featured music is a mix of  Blue Grass, Traditional Country, and Good Old Rock and Roll. The concert is Free but any funds generated via donations. Food sales, etc. will support the Howard County Farm-City Celebration Scholarship Fund. 

June 2 - Soundcheck Rock Academy Fundraiser @ The Soundry
Soundcheck Rock Academy has been bringing the rock to Columbia, MD for over 8 years. SRA is the premiere and original Rock School of Columbia, and we’re proud to bring it to the Columbia Waterfront and The Soundry. 27 bands and 4 singer-songwriters will perform.

Grease at Toby’s Dinner Theatre
It’s STILL the word! One of the world’s favorite musicals hits the stage in a high-octane production featuring all the hit songs you love, including “Summer Nights,” “You’re the One That I Want,” “Hopelessly Devoted To You” and “Greased Lightning.” Danny, Sandy and the coolest gang of students from Rydell High take you back to the 1950’s when drive-in movies, sock-hops and tough talkin’ Pink Ladies defined a generation. Grease and Toby’s go together like a wop bam boom!
