Annual Daffodil Day Celebration

History and daffodils bloom again at the Whipps Garden Cemetery’s Daffodil Day Celebration from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at the cemetery located 3651 St. Johns Lane, in Ellicott City. Visitors will be serenaded by the Camerata Musica Madrigal Singers. Admission is free.

Potted plants will be available for sale including: Hellebores, Virginia bluebells, Pansies, Primroses, Peonies, etc. Perfect for spring gardens and Easter gift-giving.

Highlights include entertainment by the Camerata Musica Madrigal Singers and the Glen Elg Country School Madrigals. Theatrical re-enactments of cemetery “residents” will take place in the Woodland Theatre along with children's activities, raffles and a composting demonstration. Explore history among the daffodils, native plants and specialty gardens.

Whipps Garden Cemetery is Ellicott City’s only public historic garden-park run entirely by volunteers. The park is maintained by volunteers and the Howard County’s Master Gardeners and is open to the public daily. It is owned by a non-profit organization, The Friends of the Whipps Cemetery and Memorial Gardens, Inc. Begun as a family burial ground in 1855, Whipps is no longer an active cemetery – the last burial was in 1915.

Proceeds from the sale will benefit the Whipps Cemetery, a 501(3)(c) non-profit organization. UME Howard County Master Gardeners will be on hand to help answer your plant and gardening questions. For more information, email
