Fresh oysters and local watermen are the focus of our inaugural fall festival, Brews & Bivalves—a day full of oysters, beer, and fundraising fun to benefit the Oyster Recovery Partnership.
On Saturday, October 6th, from noon to 6 p.m., we’ll welcome half a dozen local oystermen, each offering their finest bounty, shucked as you order, while they tell tales of their time on the water. Oysters on the half shell will be $1 each!
And since it wouldn’t be an oyster festival with just one kind of oyster, our FoodWorks kitchen will be serving ’em fried and baked, Casino style!
We’ve got an outdoor permit for the day, which means we’ll be setting up a Jailbreak Biergarten in front of the Taproom where friendly, leashed dogs are welcome. Most importantly, our draft truck will be pouring an array of brews, including a special treat crafted for the festival (more details soon!) and oyster shooters!
Live music by Common Thread from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. and Eastern Shore duo Mike Elzey and Shea Springer from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
A portion of beer sales during the festival will be donated to ORP. The Annapolis-based nonprofit will also be onsite to share information about their mission to create a self-sustaining oyster population that will inevitably harness a healthier Chesapeake Bay. ORP will recycle all oyster shells from the festival! Fun fact: Each saved shell enables 10 new oysters to be planted!
In the unfortunate event of inclement weather, the festivities will be moved into the brewery, so you can still enjoy oysters and more while getting a closer look at where the magic happens. #winwin
