On 22 February, Candlelight Concerts presents the Schumann Quartett, which has won chamber music competitions throughout Europe and has already assembled a distinguished prize-winning discography, including an OPUS KLASSIK Award, conferred this fall, for their most recent CD, which was awarded “Chamber Music Recording of the Year.” The ensemble, who eagerly embrace the rewards (and risks) that live performances entail, have gained international recognition for their artistry, their emotional intelligence, the extent to which they communicate and connect, and their technical virtuosity. They will be treating Candlelight concertgoers to a terrific and mesmerizing program, with masterworks by some of the giants of the genre – Mozart, Shostakovich, and Smetana.

“The Schumann’s performance combined probing intensity with wit and energy, and a wonderful alertness to shifts of mood throughout. An outstanding evening, every second of it.” (The Guardian).
