Join us for a class on how to cook in cast iron pans and enjoy tasting various Secolari salts and balsamic vinegars.
Taught by Mary’s Land Farm Innkeeper Julie Webb, participants will learn about the versatility of cooking in cast iron, how to season pans and how to properly care for cast iron pans. Julie grew up in an 1800’s farmhouse where her cast iron pans were handled down from generation to generation. Cast iron has always been her favorite pan for cooking rustic and delicious dishes! Participants will learn how to cook in cast iron skillets and general cooking tips and techniques.
We will perfectly sear and cook a flank steak and taste how different gourmet Secolari flavored salts enhance the steak’s flavor. Julie will prepare roasted vegetables in cast iron and pair them with a variety of high-quality artisan Secolari balsamics, so participants can find their favorite flavors!
Julie will share her cast iron cornbread recipe that many say is the best cornbread they have ever tasted and will also share the secrets to making any cast iron pan non-stick, whether it be a new pan or a vintage pan.
