“Grief can be the garden of compassion. If you keep your heart open through everything, your pain can become your greatest ally in your life’s search for love and wisdom.” ~ Rumi
The concept of grieving the loss of a loved one as a journey allows human beings to understand the healing process in stages, with accompanying tasks, and with needs that are both universal and unique. Yet, there are many faces to grief and innumerable ways of expressing it.
Because this group retreat focuses on naming these rites of passage as a viable access to healing, participants will be engaged in prayer, meditation and dialogue throughout the day while also having time for solitude and personal exploration. A variety of exercises and resources will be offered to empower participants on their journey as they reveal their respective story. Attention will be given to some of the tasks inherent to grieving the loss of a loved one while incorporating creative interventions for moving forward. A journal is a great companion for this program. The day will include lunch.
