Fresh oysters and local watermen are the focus of our second annual fall festival, Brews & Bivalves—a day full of oysters, beer, and fundraising fun to benefit the Oyster Recover Partnership.
On Saturday, October 19th, from noon to 6 p.m., we’ll welcome a few local oystermen, each offering their finest bounty, shucked as you order, while they tell tales of their time on the water. Oysters on the half shell will be $1 each!
And since it wouldn’t be an oyster festival with just one kind of oyster, our FoodWorks kitchen will be serving ’em grilled and baked, Casino style!
We’ve got an outdoor permit for the day, which means we’ll be setting up a Jailbreak Biergarten in front of the Taproom where friendly, leashed dogs are welcome. Most importantly, our draft truck will be pouring an array of brews, including a special treat or two, specially crafted for the festival (more details soon!), $5 select pints, and oyster shooters!
We’ll also have our friends Scoop & Paddle on site with some delicious sweet treats, including the return of Dusk till Dusk 2018 Chocolate Ice Cream with Chocolate-Covered Pretzel Pieces.
Live music by Black Rhinoceros from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. and the return of Eastern Shore duo Mike Elzey and Shea Springer from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
A portion of beer sales during the festival will be donated to Oyster Recovery Partnership. The Annapolis-based nonprofit will also be onsite to share information about their mission to create a self-sustaining oyster population that will inevitably harness a healthier Chesapeake Bay. ORP will recycle all oyster shells from the festival! Fun fact: Each saved shell enables 10 new oysters to be planted!
In the unfortunate event of inclement weather, the festivities will be moved into the brewery, so you can still enjoy oysters and more while getting a closer look at where the magic happens. #winwin
