A Collaborative Effort for Cultural Enrichment

The Maryland Koreatown brand, a joint effort between Visit Howard County, KPCB, and Howard County Government, seeks to spotlight the diverse cultural offerings along Howard County’s portion of US 40. The newly launched website serves as a virtual guide, featuring information on more than 70 businesses and the local area, ensuring that visitors have all they need to make the most of their cultural exploration.

Fostering Inclusivity Beyond Borders

More than just a travel guide, the Maryland Koreatown website is a testament to inclusivity. It goes beyond providing practical travel advice by highlighting an ever-expanding array of establishments, representing the rich tapestry of cultures present in Koreatown. This approach ensures that every visitor, regardless of background, feels invited to partake in and appreciate the cultural richness of this unique hub.

Unveiling a Unique Brand Identity

The Koreatown Planning Committee Board, Inc. (KPCB), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, spearheaded the rebranding effort from the existing "Korean Way" signage along US 40 to the now-recognized "Koreatown." This strategic move is expected to not only boost tourism but also stimulate economic growth by promoting the unique Korean American culture and history through businesses and community engagement.

Looking to the Future

As the Maryland Koreatown brand gains popularity, Visit Howard County anticipates a surge in business listings on the website. The branding initiative extends beyond the digital realm with the inclusion of decals in the windows of businesses for cross-promotion, along with links to merchandise like clothing, tote bags, coffee mugs, and more.
