Ghost Tour Guide

Do you have what it takes to dazzle and thrill the visitors to Ellicott City? Howard County Tourism & Promotion is looking for talented tour guides to regale visitors to Ellicott City with the most haunting tales for the 2016 season and beyond.

Howard County Tourism & Promotion is a 501©6 organization that has been running ghost tours in Historic Ellicott City since 2004. About the position: Howard County Tourism & Promotion Ghost Tours are walking tours of the historic district of Ellicott City. Each tour averages about 90 minutes and occur Friday & Saturday night April-November. This position is part time with most tour guides averaging 2 nights per month (more in October). Welcome Center Team

Think you know everything & everyone in Howard County? Prove It! The Howard County Welcome Center in historic Ellicott City is looking for part-time “People Persons” to meet & greet 30,000+ tourists from all-over-the-world on evenings, weekends, holidays and some weekdays. Heritage Tour Team

Howard County Tourism hosts hundreds of 3rd grade students for walking tours of Historic Ellicott City and its museums each Fall & Spring. We need guides WHO LOVE HISTORY and with lots of personality and patience to entertain and educate our 3rd grade guests! We pay your heritage tour guides $35.00 per tour. Do you enjoy helping people? If your answer is “Yes!” Howard County Tourism & Promotion has expanded its Welcome Center located in the Ellicott City Historic District and we are often seeking volunteers.

Volunteers greet visitors, assist with directions, help identify hotels and itineraries, greet motorcoaches and work with tourism and private sector representatives. You will be trained and have the opportunity to participate in Welcome Center programs such as familiarization tours, new product and consumer service seminars and team meetings.

Volunteers Hours - The Welcome Center program calls for a minimum of four hours but no more than 8 hours a day. The Welcome Center is open 7 days a week and volunteers can participate from one to seven days a week.

Hours of Operation - The Welcome Center is open from 10am to 5pm Monday through Saturday and noon to 5pm on Sunday. Seasonally (April through November) the hours are Monday through Wednesday 10am to 5pm; Thursday through Saturday 10am to 9pm and Sunday Noon to 5pm. The center is open every day except Thanksgiving and Christmas.
