Driving Directions To Howard County Welcome Center In Historic Ellicott City, MD

BALTIMORE CITY & TOWSON

Take 695 West to US Route 40 (exit 15), take Route 40 West to Rogers Avenue. Turn left on Rogers Avenue and continue until it bears left and becomes Court House Drive. Look for Ellicott Mills Drive on the right and turn there, following down to Main Street. At the traffic light turn left onto Main Street and go 1½ blocks to the Howard County Tourism and Promotion Welcome Center on the right at 8267 Main Street.

WASHINGTON, DC

Take 95 north to 100 west to 29 north, stay in right lane and take route 40 east, at first light make a right onto Rogers Avenue, after the county office complex take a right onto Ellicott Mills Drive, continue until you come to Main Street in the Historic Ellicott City, turn left at the light for down town. One block east is the Howard County Tourism & Promotion Welcome Center. (if you take the left turn before you get to Main Street, there is free parking there in Lot F)

ANNAPOLIS & OCEAN CITY

Take 50/301 west to I97, I97 to 100 west to 29 north, stay in right lane and take route 40 east, at first light make a right onto Rogers Avenue, after the county office complex take a right onto Ellicott Mills Drive, continue until you come to Main Street in the Historic Ellicott City, turn left at the lights for down town. One block east is the Howard County Tourism & Promotion Welcome Center. (if you take the left turn before you get to Main Street, there is free parking there in lot F.)

BWI MARSHALL AIRPORT & AMTRAK

I195 north to I95 south to 100 west to 29 north, stay in right lane and take route 40 east, at first light make a right onto Rogers Avenue, after the county office complex take a right onto Ellicott Mills Drive, continue until you come to Main Street in the Historic Ellicott City, turn left at the lights for down town. One block east is the Howard County Tourism & Promotion Welcome Center. (if you take the left turn before you get to Main Street, there is free parking there in lot F.)

FREDERICK & DEEP CREEK LAKE

Take 70 east to 29 south, take exit 24 East for route 40 east, at second light make a right onto Rogers Avenue, after the county office complex take a right onto Ellicott Mills Drive, continue until you come to Main Street in the Historic Ellicott City, turn left at the lights for down town. One block east is the Howard County Tourism & Promotion Welcome Center. (if you take the left turn before you get to Main Street, there is free parking there in lot F.)

Parking

All six parking lots (A, B, C, D, E, F) in historic Ellicott City are free. Currently there is no parking permitted on Main Street. 

Additional parking is available at the Howard County Circuit Court lot above Main Street and at The Roger Carter Center’s parking lot. The Howard County Circuit Court lot is accessed from US 40 via Rogers Avenue to Court House Drive. Court House Drive ends at this lot and from there you can enjoy a lovely stroll down to Main Street via the stairs. The Roger Carter Center’s parking lot is located on Fels Lane off Ellicott Mills Drive just above Lot F.

 HANDICAPPED PARKING

An individual with a disability to whom a special plate or parking permit for individuals with disabilities has been issued under the Maryland Vehicle Law:

  1. May park in the areas designated with the wheelchair emblem or established for individuals with disabilities;
  2. May park for unlimited periods in parking zones restricted as to the length of parking time permitted; and
  3. Is not required to pay parking meter fees established by the county.
    (b) Exceptions. The provisions of this section do not apply to zones where stopping, standing, or parking is prohibited to all vehicles or which are reserved for special types of vehicles, nor does this privilege apply where there is an ordinance prohibiting parking during heavy traffic periods during morning, afternoon or evening rush hours, or where parking would clearly present a traffic hazard.
